NEUTRA-ROURKE RESIDENCE
2018 BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA HISTORIC RESIDENTIAL REMODEL AND ADDITION
A Richard Neutra residence built in 1949 for Betty Rourke and photographed by Julius Shulman. The building suffered severe damage from a remodel in the 80's, converting the design to a colonial style building with a pitched roof at the second floor. The current owner requested a design to restore the original Neutra design where possible and provide a second floor addition along with site improvements including hillside pool and spa. Fortunately, the foundations installed by Neutra were perfectly intact. The original hand-drafted construction documents and design sketches were available for reference at UCLA's archives.
